About the Project

For over seven years, the Sunrise Project, an initiative of The Malta Trust Foundation, has offered a community-focused, social wellbeing programme for adults facing mental health challenges in Gozo.

The project provides structured support outside traditional hospital settings, enabling clients to live independently, manage challenges, and participate meaningfully in their communities.

Sunrise operates on a social wellbeing and rights-based model.

Importantly, Sunrise is not a psychiatric service; it does not provide clinical or hospital-based treatment.

Instead, it focuses on social rehabilitation, skill development, and community integration, using a proactive, preventive approach.
