The Malta Trust Foundation invites applications for the Post of Psychologist, Counsellor or Psychotherapist for the Blossom Project in Malta. The Blossom Project offers counselling/psychotherapy services in schools, endeavouring to offer timely and effective support to children, young people and their families as well as to educators and complimentary staff.
The Malta Trust Foundation is seeking dedicated and qualified professionals to join our team on part-time. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and adolescents through therapeutic support within educational settings.
Position Overview
We are looking for compassionate and skilled counsellors to provide individual and group counselling to students, helping them navigate social, emotional, and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will foster a safe, inclusive, and child-centered environment, working collaboratively with educators, administrators, and families to promote student well-being and development.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counselling tailored to student needs
- Create a safe, non-judgmental space with unconditional positive regard
- Support students in developing organizational, time management, and study skills
- Guide students in setting and achieving academic, career, and personal goals
- Collaborate with school staff and parents/guardians to support student growth
- Identify and report concerns requiring further intervention (e.g., neglect, abuse)
- Refer students and families to external support services when necessary
- Maintain accurate records and essential documentation
- Participate in meetings, supervision, and CPD sessions
- Work during school hours, Monday to Friday, for a minimum of 20 hours per week
Candidate Requirements
- Possession of an MQRIC Level 7 or higher qualification in one of the following fields: Counselling, Psychotherapy, Counselling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Family Therapy, or Child, Adolescent and Educational Psychology
- A permanent professional warrant
- Fluent in the use of the English language (spoken and written) with a strong understanding of the Maltese language
- A strong commitment to a child-centered approach and prioritizing the best interest of the child
- Ability to build and maintain positive collaborative relationships with all stakeholders within The Malta Trust Foundation
Salary Information
The gross annual salary range, based on a part-time 20-hour week, is between €20,800-€26,000. Other benefits include monthly individual and group supervision, CPD, basic health insurance and professional indemnity insurance.

- This appointment is subject to a probationary/trial period of six (6) months.
